Determination of LME sensitivity of zinc-coated steels based on the programmable deformation cracking test

Abstract The current work presents a new test method to evaluate liquid metal embrittlement (LME) susceptibility of zinc-coated steels in arc processes under application-oriented conditions. procedure is based on the programmable deformation cracking (PVR test). PVR variation controlled tensile for hot investigations welding processes. Two dual-phase (DP600, DP980) and five transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP690, TRIP700, TRIP1100, TRIP1200) were used. showed that comparable thermo-mechanical loading conditions can be guaranteed materials different sheet thicknesses through targeted adjustment heat input per unit length weld. Furthermore, it was shown critical rate $${v}_{cr}$$ v cr (used assessing susceptibility) may also used assess LME particular steel. another parameter, relative reduction load-bearing ability $$\Delta\Sigma$$ Δ Σ could derived, which understand how affects materials’ mechanical fracture properties.
